The library has a few newspapers and journals (such as the New York Times) with coverage before 1900, contained on microfilm. Check the title list to find the coverage years for these items.

The electronic database JSTOR, which can be found on the library's database list, also has some historical journal coverage.

It is also possible to check Google's news archive. Google has the full text of some historical newspaper articles for free, and other articles can be requested through interlibrary loan.
